Why Live2Lead?

Attending Live2Lead and applying what I’ve learned from the speakers each year, has been and continues to be a great help to me. I take what I’ve learned and teach other people how to increase and improve upon their leadership skills. However, I’ve been most impacted by other people in the audiences where I’ve attended Live2Lead.

I’ve had numerous conversations where people say something like, “Wow! This is a great experience! It’s just what I’ve been looking for.” Reactions like that have made a lasting impact on me, because it shows me that people are hungry to learn how to be better leaders. They want to invest in themselves. They want to lead their teams in a more successful way. They want to learn to lead in a way that people want to follow them. And most of all, they want to teach the great things they’ve learned to anyone who will listen.

I know what you’re saying, “Eric, this is great and all, but who has time to go to yet another leadership conference?” I hear you and I understand what you’re saying. And you’re right. With our busy lives, we don’t have time to attend more leadership conferences. That’s exactly why people come back to Live2Lead every year. It’s why more new attendees show up every year. Because Live2Lead is not a leadership conference. It’s a leadership experience. Live2Lead is a leadership experience that has significantly impacted the way I teach and lead.

Here’s what I mean. At Live2Lead 2016, Simon Sinek, author of Start With Why and one of the top three most watched TED Talks of all-time, taught me about playing the finite vs. infinite game that occurs in business. In short, Simon says (sorry, I couldn’t resist), finite players are playing to win, but infinite players are playing to keep the game going. He suggests that we “…wake up and compete against ourselves. Work towards being better than you were yesterday. Over time, you’ll find that you’re ahead more often. This is what infinite players do. Infinite players play to win the war, not the battle. They don’t play to win every day. They play to outlast their competition.” Boom! Knowledge dropped! This is how I lead my business. This is what I teach my students at Ohio Dominican University. This is how I serve my clients.

I could go on and tell you about the other great speakers I’ve seen at Live2Lead. I’ve learned a great deal from all of them. People like Liz Wiseman, John C. Maxwell, Pat Lencioni, and more. But I think they’d agree with me when I say, it’s not about them. It’s about you. It’s about you connecting with other local leaders. It’s about you connecting with other local leaders to spark lasting change in your job, in your school, in your community, and home.

It’s about you and me taking the new ideas that are sparked within us. It’s about us creating and activating our plans to equip other leaders. Keeping what we learn to ourselves is not the way things are supposed to go. If we just hold on to what we learn and don’t apply it and use it to help other people, we are merely storage facilities of knowledge and information. That helps no one. Including you and me. Live2Lead has helped me understand even more that what I have, I must give it away. That’s true for you, too. Your wisdom is needed. Your skills are needed. Your time is needed. Your knowledge is needed. Your love is needed. Your compassion is need. Your help is needed. You are needed.

That’s why I really hope you’ll join me at Live2Lead at Polaris Church on October 6, 2017. I want to connect with you so we can connect with other people and help them succeed. I’m excited to welcome you to this leadership experience. I’m excited to welcome you to Live2Lead 2017. I’ll see you there.
